The earthquake on the Reykjanes peninsula

Many customers have asked us if the volcano will be back soon. It would be nice to be able to see it while in Iceland, just as the year before.

It is a difficult thing to predict what nature is up to. What we can do is observe the local newspapers, and here is brand-new information that could become interesting. We found it yesterday evening, the 12th of April 2022.

The earthquake started on the Reykjanes peninsula at 21.20 tonight.

According to information from the Icelandic Meteorological Office, a magnitude 3.9 earthquake has been detected tonight, as well as two earthquakes over magnitude 3. There has been considerable seismic activity. The Meteorological Office has received reports that the earthquake has been found in most municipalities on the Reykjanes peninsula.

The activity occurred about 7 kilometers northeast of Reykjanestá. A total of about 200 earthquakes have been detected since the eruption began.A magnitude similar earthquake was last observed in November 2021, when a magnitude 3.5 earthquake shook the region.
