Camper Iceland Rental Conditions
1. Customer Service
1.1 Travel Agency - Sales
If you booked directly with Camper Iceland ehf please contact us at info@camper.is. If you booked with one of our many agents around the world please contact them for booking related matters.
1.2 Rental Station - Camper Iceland ehf
Camper Iceland ehf is responsible for the maintenance of the vehicle on spot. The team will give you a warm welcome and will assist you during the check-in procedure and vehicle self-instruction procedure.
2. Rental Period Rules
The minimum rental period parameters are specified during the reservation process and may fluctuate seasonally. Single-day calculations are handled on a 24-hour cycle beginning at the validated time of vehicle dispatch.
3. Extras & Drivers
3.1 Additional Driver
All reservations must be under the lead driver's name. The lead driver must be present at the time of rental and must be the main credit card holder. Additional drivers can be registered for an additional fee. All drivers must be registered on the rental agreement at the time of rental for them to be insured.
4. Luggage Storage
Our customers can leave their baggage at the rental station. This option is free of charge and has been popular for many years. After unpacking your luggage just ask someone at the reception to take care of it for you.
5. GPS Tracking
The vehicle can be equipped with a GPS security device. The GPS tracking unit is a device that uses the GPS to determine the precise location of a vehicle and to record the position. In case of a serious accident - like flip over - the device is going to call National Emergency Number (112) automatically providing your current position.
6. Environmental Fee
An environmental surcharge of 15 € applies to all rentals.
7. Pick Up / Drop Off / Opening Hours / Shuttle
7.1 Location
Pick up / drop off location Camper Iceland, approx 7 km from the international airport in Keflavik. Address: Klettatröð 15, 262 Keflavík (Ásbrú).
7.2 Vacation Start
Please check your vehicle and its equipment before leaving the rental station. In case something is missing or you need anything else feel free to contact our Reception Team.
7.3 Transfer / Shuttle / Taxi Arrangements
UPDATED REVISION- Shuttle service to/from Keflavík International Airport (KEF).
- Shuttle service to/from Local Hotels and Guesthouses within the local Keflavík / Reykjanesbær area.
How to request your shuttle pickup: After you arrive at Keflavík International Airport (KEF) and have collected your luggage, or when you are checked out and ready in your local hotel lobby, please call our rental station directly at: +354 553 6000. Our team will verify your details and dispatch our shuttle driver immediately.
Other Locations (e.g., Reykjavík City): For locations outside the immediate local shuttle zone, the most efficient transportation is a taxi. We officially recommend our transit partner Aðalstöðin (Airport Taxi) via phone +354 420-1212 or email pantanir@airporttaxi.is. Make sure to state that you are traveling with Camper Iceland to ensure our customized flat-rate agreements apply to your trip destination.
7.4 Opening Hours
We offer our service all days (incl. holidays). Pick up daily from 09:00 - 17:00. Drop off daily from 09:00 - 16:00. Outside the opening hours a fee applies.
8. Returning the Vehicle
8.1 Normal Drop Off
The vehicle is returned at our station at the same place it was picked up. The drop off takes 20-60 minutes. In case of any issues it may take longer.
8.2 Damaged vehicle or Issues
In case of damages or breakdowns the customer should inform Camper Iceland ehf at least 24h in advance to schedule a drop off evaluation.
8.3 Before the Drop Off
Make sure to clean the vehicle at the local gas station, empty the waste tanks at the appointed place and fill it up with gasoline / diesel.
9. Reservations, Modifications & Rebooking
Our vehicles can be booked on our webpage or by contacting our sales team. Our system allows you to add extras at any time by accessing it online.
9.1 Vehicle Categories & Model Substitutions
All bookings are guaranteed by Vehicle Category (e.g., 4x4 Camper, Medium Motorhome, Large Motorhome) and not by specific vehicle make, model, layout configuration, or structural design. Camper Iceland reserves the right to substitute vehicles with alternative models within a similar or higher-tier category layout configuration in the event of unexpected fleet adjustments, global logistics changes, safety recalls, or counter dispatch constraints.
10. Extension of Rental
Extending a rental contract in progress is dependent on vehicle availability and requires formal approval from the station service counter. Unapproved extensions are subject to penalty surcharges.
11. Early Returns Policy
Vehicles returned before the scheduled expiration date are not eligible for partial refunds or credits for unused operational days.
12. Cancellations
Until 50 days before beginning of rental 20% with a minimum of € 200. Between 49 to 15 days before 50%. Less than 15 days before or no show 100% of rental price.
13. No-Show Policies
Failure to collect the camper within the designated window without notification results in reservation cancellation and a forfeiture rate of 100% of the booking value.
14. Fuel & Cleaning Fees
Vehicles must be returned clean and with a full tank of fuel. Surcharges plus service processing fees apply if special deep cleaning or refueling is handled by station staff.
15. Credit Card Required
No rentals can take place without the main driver having a major credit card present. The card must be valid until at least one month after the vehicle return is scheduled. Pre-paid cards will not be accepted.
16. Security Deposits
A standard insurance authorization pre-hold is placed on the driver’s main credit card at vehicle hand-over. This hold is finalized and dropped upon safe return without damages.
17. Age Requirements
Minimum age requirements vary based on the vehicle classification and scale. Detailed thresholds are managed across categories during checkout verification.
18. Driver's Licenses
Renters must present a valid national driver's license held for at least one year. International driving permits are required if the license does not use the Latin alphabet.
19. Malfunctions, Tires & Accidents
All the malfunctions that appear on the road after full car deliverance are considered Customer's responsibility. Tires are always the renter's liability. If tires go flat the renter is responsible for replacing the tire with same pattern and size at the nearest tire garage.
20. Accidents & Reporting
In the event of an accident, collision, or property damage, local emergency authorities (112) and station management must be notified immediately. Missing local accident data can void insurance options.
21. Roadside Assistance
Station staff provide dispatch support details for field technical issues. Charges may apply for non-mechanical or user-caused service dispatches.
22. Driving Restrictions
Driving on roads marked F on official maps as well as 35 (Kjölur), 550 (Kaldidalur), 939 (Öxi), 520 (Dragafell) is restricted unless operating an approved 4x4 configuration vehicle.
23-30. Prohibited Uses, Rules & Operational Fees
Off-road driving is completely illegal in Iceland. Renters assume full liability for associated police fines, environmental rescue extra fees, undercarriage damages, or water ingress consequences resulting from crossing rivers.
31. Vehicle Condition Report (VCR)
With every rental the customer receives a Vehicle Condition Report on which all damages are marked. Photos of the vehicle are taken during the pick up procedure with customer's presence and uploaded to a shared drive.
32. Liability Boundaries
Camper Iceland assumes no responsibility for losses, modifications, delays, or disruptions resulting from seasonal weather events, volcanic activity, or official regional road closures.
33. Subletting Restrictions
Subletting, transferring ownership use, or assigning operational rights of the vehicle to unlisted third-party individuals is completely prohibited.
34. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
Camper Iceland includes a basic CDW in the rental rate of all vehicle types. Deductibles can be reduced by purchasing upgraded insurance packages during the online check-in phase or at the counter desk.
