An iceberg is now visible off the coast of Nestangi, in the Icelandic Westfjords. It’s been carefully monitored by the Litla-Ávík weather station and appears to be moving east.

Although the iceberg is still fairly large, it has melted and shrunk down quite a bit since yesterday, according to a report from Litlihjalli.

The Westfjords are the closest to the neighbouring country of Greenland, from which a number of icebergs have originated. Iceberg sightings near Greenland are the most frequent during the fall season.

A large iceberg was spotted near Látrabjarg, also in the Westfjords, nearly a month ago.
