The top of Esja mountain, near Reykjavík, will be the venue this evening for a concert featuring some of Iceland’s best-known hip hop artists. Telecom company Nova is hosting the free concert.

Concert goers can either hike up the mountain to the concert location or avail themselves of a helicopter service, according to Vísir. The helicopter ride costs ISK 6,500 (USD 66, EUR 59) each way, or ISK 5,500 (USD 55, EUR 50) if purchased with the AUR app. People planning on taking advantage of the helicopter are encouraged to buy tickets in advance on www.tix.is.

“This is the fourth time we are holding a concert on Esja, and it has always gone well and been enjoyed by concertgoers and organizers alike. Of course, we hope to see as many people as possible and encourage people to bring the whole family and their friends along to the mountain. If someone has foreign visitors, this is a great way to show them a beautiful environment, cool musicians and Icelanders in a party mood,” stated Magnús Árnason, marketing director of Nova.

DJ Þura Stína will warm up the crowd from 6:30 pm, before hip hop artists Úlfur Úlfur, Aron Can and Emmsé Gauti take to the stage in succession from 7:30 pm.

The concert was originally scheduled for yesterday evening, but had to be cancelled due to the weather, according to Vísir . Conditions

The event is held with the blessing and cooperation of the Icelandic Forestry Association, according to Nova .
