Route One is closed in South Iceland between Kirkjubæjarklaustur and Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon due to extreme weather. The closure is expected to last at least until midday. Wind gusts in the area will reach a speed of 40 to 50 metres per second, creating a dust storm on Skeiðarársandur sand plain.
Road 93 into Seyðisfjörður is also closed due to a blizzard.
Travellers are advised to check road conditions before heading out.
